“Wizkid owes my record label, Empire Mates Entertainment, three albums,” says Banky W, an award-winning vocalist (Video)

Olubankole Wellington, professionally known as Banky W, is a veteran award-winning musician and actor who has admitted that his former label signee, Wizkid, owes his company, Empire Mates Entertainment, three albums.

The politician said this during a #BlackBoxInterview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu interview in which he discussed Wizkid and his contract status with Empire Mates Entertainment.

The executive record producer was a guest on Ebuka Obi-#BlackBoxInterview Uchendu’s Easter Special, where he disclosed that he is ecstatic to have influenced Wizkid’s career and that they still have a wonderful connection today.

The entrepreneur then discussed Wizkid’s almost-scandalous withdrawal from the music label, claiming that a lack of communication nearly resulted in a conflict.

Wizkid was beginning to imagine a fantasy grander than what the label could have had in mind for him at the moment, according to the father of one, and Wizkid wanted to be in charge of his own destiny.

Wellington put it this way:

“I called him one day and I said let’s talk, I told him that I am hearing too many things and you and I have a relationship where we can just talk about things. Tell me what you want, if you want to be off the label, I will never be the kind of person that would try to prevent you or sue you. Wizkid was right on the cusp of going bigger international. Wizkid then opened up and he feels like he wanted to set up his outfit and do things his way.

I said okay if that’s what he wants, he’d get my full blessing. I will never try to tie you down or anything like that.”

When asked how many albums Wizkid has promised to do with E.M.E due to contractual obligations, Banky responded:

“I think it was a 5 album deal and he had done 2 solo albums… I think he still owed 3 more albums but he wanted to leave”
