On Saturday morning, gunmen opened fire on the Ogaminana Police Station in Kogi State’s Adavi council area, killing three officers on duty.

The attack happened at 2 a.m. on Saturday, according to reports.

According to reports, the shooters attacked the police station from multiple directions.

The news has spread terror throughout the town.

“Today 23/4/2022, the Command received a report of the unfortunate incident at Adavi Police Division where some hoodlums attacked the station from the opposite direction shooting sporadically but were repelled by the men on duty and operatives of the Quick Response Unit who were on special operations at the Local Government,” the State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP William Aya said in a statement.

“However, three of the Command’s officers were killed in the gunfight, and the hoodlums fled with gunshot wounds because they couldn’t get into the station.”

“The Commissioner of Police, Kogi Command, CP Edward Egbuka, psc (+), promptly dispatched a team of tactical operatives to the area and restored normalcy while tracing the hoodlums with the intention of apprehending and prosecuting them.”

“The Commissioner of Police is using this medium to urge residents of Adavi and the surrounding areas to be vigilant and report anyone spotted with bullet wounds to the Police or any other security forces nearby.”

“He orders that an investigation into the incident be launched by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation.”
