Who is Johnny Drille ?

John Ighodaro (born July 5, 1990) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter better known as Johnny Drille. When he published a rendition of Di’Ja’s “Awww,” his career took off. Mavin Records is his current label. Johnny Drille was born and reared in the Nigerian state of Edo. His father is a school administrator and a minister. He has four brothers and sisters. Drille began singing at his father’s church at a young age. Johnny began singing in church with his siblings at a young age. In 2001, he joined the children’s choir and began playing the piano. He also joined the ‘Soul Awakening Signers,’ and was singing alongside his sister and other known faces. In 2006, he began training himself in music creation using tape recorders.

Drille’s musical career began at church. In 2013, he competed in the sixth season of Project Fame West Africa. In 2015, he recorded a version of Di’Ja’s “Awww,” which piqued the interest of Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy. In 2015, he released his debut single “Wait for Me.” At The Headies 2016, it was nominated for Best Alternative Song. He recorded “Start All Over” alongside Niniola, another season 6 competitor.He secured a record deal with Mavin Records in February 2017. On September 3, 2021, he published his debut album, a fourteen-track effort.

Following the release of the cover, he went on to release Wait for Me (2015) and, subsequently, Love Don’t Lie. (2015). The latter was well welcomed and reached the top of the Nigerian music charts. Drille has continued to whet his listeners’ appetites with frequent releases of superb songs since then.

Johnny also plays drums, percussion, guitar, keyboard, and other instruments. He has again featured and been featured by a variety of artists. He even recorded Start All Over with Niniola, a fellow MTN Project Fame Season competitor.

Johnny Drille was born on July 5, 1990, in Edo State to a family of five children. He is currently 31 years old, and he grew up in Edo State with four siblings. Drille added that his parents forbade them from going out frequently for fear of harming themselves or mingling with the wrong people. Johnny Drille graduated from the University of Benin in Edo State with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Literature.

DId Johnny Drille Have A Girlfriend or BabyMama ?

On his Twitter page, the musician has revealed some of his former love and dating experiences with his followers, admitting that he is a lover of women and a preacher of love. The musician stated that he previously had a crush on a Primary 5 classmate named ‘Owas,’ and that he pondered becoming an actor solely to kiss ladies. He also described how he followed a lady for around 45 minutes to her residence and then walked back for 2 hours. In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Johnny Drille also said that his song ‘Wait For Me’ was inspired by the heartbreak he suffered at his most memorable NYSC camp.  He revealed that he had begun a relationship with a lady he met at the camp, but she abandoned him soon after the camping exercise concluded, and she later married another person. He also said that during the early stages of his career, a female admirer tracked him down to a hotel and threw herself at him while claiming to be room service. He said that he needed to use some strategy to get her out of his room in a courteous manner. Nigerian artist Johnny Drille has no children as of the time of writing this piece. The 31-year-old singer is still unmarried and has no wife or child.
